Work-life balance. One of the things location-independent entrepreneurs struggle with most… at least “the Google” would have us think that.
There are a lot of reasons why that might be true (and I deal with all of them, by the way). But today, let’s just look at one.
The “Vacation Mentality” struggle. Why is it a struggle? Because you travel the world, while you are working. This means that EVERY day feels like a holiday. You feel like you’re on vacation ALL THE TIME… And that can mess with your mind.
You’re reminded of all those times you were a kid, and you went on holiday, and you spent daaaaaayssss relaxing, taking in the sights, doing vacay kinda things.
You wanna keep on doing that, right? All-day, every day. But…you can’t. Because you have a business to run. Adulting is hard.
Here’s the thing, though. You don’t need to feel like you’re being deprived of anything. You truly can have the best of both worlds: the playtime of a vacation, balanced with the dedication and success of work. AND you can do this without burning out… BUT, you need to make one CRUCIAL change for that to be possible.
In this week’s Insights Video, we’ll take a look at the essential change you have to make to get away from the “full-time vacation” vs. “full-time work” Vacation Mentality struggle.
In this video, we’ll look at:
- 0:29 – How our childhood conditioned us to think about travel and holidays (and this has stuck with us SO HARD!)
- 1:20 – How we sometimes shoot ourselves in the foot with this lifestyle…
- 1:56 – Aaaaaaand how we can stop doing that for good
- 3:00 – The little thing we need to help define our time, so we can be super-focused some of the time AND play the rest of the time
- 3:34 – The thing you have control over (you’re going to LOVE THIS)
If you’re location-independent, and you want to embrace a new way of approaching your days that puts that old On/Off Vacation vs. Work mentality in the dust bin (so you’re getting your tasks done, AND wrapping up to just play each day) then this is for you.
Warmly,
Erin
