Let’s play a game of “Which would you rather”?
Would you rather run a healthy business, with employees who work hard and do their best?
OR
Would you rather run a business, with employees who work hard and do their best, except for one person who can’t get their A into G?
If you choose Option A, you end up with a business firing on all cylinders, where everyone is happy and the team feels solid.
If you choose Option B, you end up with a business that keeps flaming out because that one player consistently drops the ball and you may be days or weeks away from a cascade failure.
I know which one I’d choose.
Now, I’ve been there. I know how hard and scary firing someone can seem.
So, when it comes to firing, what you need is a strategy. As soon as you have this, things get way easier. With a strategy, you can calm down that monkey mind that has you wound so tight … you’re heading straight for a conversation that feels SUPER emotional.
The strategy isn’t random, and it is time-sensitive. So, the quicker you know what the strategy is, the better this is going to go for you in the long run.
This is exactly what we’re looking at in this week’s Insights Video.
In this video, we’ll look at:
- 1:24 – Why firing someone might be the best gift they ever got. Seriously, I mean it.
- 2:46 – The strategies you can use that’ll take firing someone from ‘worst experience ever’ to ‘I got this, it’s gonna be OK.’
- 4:33 – The consequences of not firing someone when you know you should.
- 6:25 – The other important things you need to think about when you fire someone – that’ll protect your whole company and other employees.
If you need to make some changes in your business and the idea of firing someone has got you feeling anxious and a little scared, then this video is for you, Freedom-Lover.
