A few weeks ago I wrote a post called “That App Isn’t Magic: Why Tools Don’t Make You Organized” which was inspired, in part, by the tremendous number of times that I’ve had people ask me, “What app should I use for my to-do list?”
Let me start by saying… I’m a gadget gal! I LOVE a good app, and finding new tools to play with is SO much fun! I love to figure out how to make them work even more effectively for me and for my clients. I know, some of you are thinking, “Yep, she’s bonkers.” While others are probably thinking, “Good! Thank god someone likes to do that, so I don’t have to drag myself through it!”
So, yes, I am happy to be your resource on such recommendations. However, as my previous post suggested and I firmly believe, even if I hooked you up with the most amazing app on the planet for your project management/to-do list needs… without some really essential skills in how to set it up and use it effectively, you would still flop and flail around.
It’s highly likely that you still wouldn’t see any significant improvement in how “on top of things” you feel or how laser focused you could be on getting your priority tasks DONE while not continuously dropping other balls. Soon you would be right back to that cobbled collection of lists in your notebook that has kinda sorta worked for the last few years.
Why do I know that? Because a successful To-do List isn’t about the flashy, cool app that it lives in, but your habits of interacting with it effectively and structuring it to serve up what’s most important for you exactly when you need that information.
That’s why I’m very excited to share with you our brand new quiz:
