What should you never do during a pandemic? Travel.
So, what did I do during this pandemic? I traveled.
Now, look…this was something we agonized over. Seriously. It cause a ton of anxiety in our lives. On the one hand, there was Covid to consider. On the other hand, we’d been planning this relocation for a while – long before the pandemic became a reality. This wasn’t just a fun trip we’d arranged. It was a trip that was supposed to be taking us to our new home.
And we considered canceling. We considered postponing. We considered a lot of things. After lots of discussing, calculating, backwardsing and forwardsing, this was the one thing that made sense to us: the Covid numbers were leveling off and improving in a lot of places. And if we took the trip, confining ourselves to the safety of our car, perhaps this was a risk that would pay off.  So, we did it. We packed up and shipped out of Santa Fe – taking to the road for nine days in a trip that was one of the toughest decisions we’ve ever made.
And thanks to our face masks and social distancing, we’re still healthy and symptom-free.
As a location independent entrepreneur, sometimes you’re going to have to make some tough decisions. We want our lives to be fun and freedom-loving, but we still live in a world with real risks and dangers. So, how do we strike a balance between being careful, while still being true to our lifestyles? This week’s Insights video is about just that. I want to show you the beautiful world that’s out there waiting for you – even in the strangest of times.
In this video, we’ll look at:
  • 0:42 – The wizardry needed to fit our WHOLE lives in a Mazda 6 Sedan
  • 3:04 – Why a little town called Pinedale, WY had me hysterical for about 10 solid minutes
  • 4:27 – Mountains, Geysers, & Buffalo – Oh My! It’s Yellowstone National Park (with Covid)
  • 10:30 – Our new Portland home… a bit of an adjustment! *eek*
If you’re a digital nomad who sometimes needs to consider all the risks of relocation, then this is for you!
Warmly,
Erin
