This year has been HARDCORE. Like…harder than we could ever have imagined, right? This year has kicked our behinds.
So, what did my family and I decide to do during this time? We traveled to Portland, Oregon. We’d been planning the trip since summer 2019, and even with the pandemic starting this spring we didn’t see a reason to change that plan. We figured we’d keep our Covid-careful approach, just like when everything started in March/April, and likely everything would be just fine.
And that’s exactly what we did. Little did we know what would be waiting for us when we arrived.
From childcare woes, to Black Lives Matter Protests minutes away, to Covid-spoiled exploration plans…we’ve really had to have our wits about us.
But that’s the thing about being a digital nomad – you never know what life is going to throw at you. What counts is how you deal with it.
In this week’s Insights video I’ll take you into the power of the BLM protests, and we’ll look at how we’ve been making lemonade when life throws us lemons.
In this video, you’ll learn:
- 0:19 – Finding childcare during a pandemic can be a full-time job! (But gooooo networking!)
- 1:11 – What Portland really looked like during the BLM protests, and what moved me the most
- 4:06 – Incredible hiking options in Forest Park, Mt. Tabor Park and Smith & Bybee Wetlands (social distancing can be a gift!)
- 4:43 – What our highlights of Portland have been (cue glorious vistas and fairy tale gardens)
If you want to get a fresh perspective on beautiful Portland, and find ways to have adventures where they seem unlikely, then Freedom-lover, this video is for you.
Warmly,
Erin
