I swear, y’all, if I hear the C-word again I am going to lose my mind. So, I’m not actually going to say the C-word in this email, but know that I am thinking of it. All the time. As are you, I’m sure.
2020 changed the face of everything, right? The way we travel. The way we move in space.
It changed the face of our own faces! Who would have thought the whole world would be walking around masked, using one-way aisles all over the place, and sanitizing our hands to the point where our skin started to flake off?
And yet, here we are.
A lot of us are choosing to slow WAY down due to the current health situation. But what if you don’t want to stop traveling altogether? How do you travel and stay safe? You slow down, Freedom-Lover. Waaaaay down.
Think about it: When we travel, we’re so used to moving fast. Booking tickets, cars, sorting out documents, packing, traveling, unpacking, shopping, smashing the beach in our faces the day we arrive.
What if we just slowed this all right down? Took our time. Really invested in the experience, doing it carefully, and slowly transitioned with grace.
Our family has gone through the travel process 3 times since the start of the pandemic, always quarantining, always testing, always distancing and keeping in our bubble.
And we have LOVED it. It’s forced us to go at a much slower pace, and really live the experience. We also avoid travel burnout, and we make sure that the impact of transitioning is minimal.
That’s exactly what today’s Insights Video is all about. I truly believe that slow-travel will be the safest option as the world starts to open up again, so maybe this will inspire you to choose and plan your next slow travel experience.
In this video we look at:
  • 1:06 – The most common mistake novice location-independents make (can you spell BURNOUT?)
  • 2:24 – What landing and unpacking ACTUALLY means (it’s all about details)
  • 4:07 – Setting up your life in your new place (bathrooms are major here)
  • 5:19 – Comms with your team during this time, which is KEY for everyone’s sanity
  • 7:05 – The phase that makes all the other phases worth doing
  • 8:00 – The intense period of packing up ahead of leaving (and moving on to the next adventure!)
If you want to be location-independent, then your travel planning is essential. If you want to set realistic expectations for yourself, your team, and your clients while being able to manage your productivity on the road, then this is for you.
Warmly,
Erin
